End of Year Update:
5th Class have been busy in the final term! We took the train into the city centre to visit the Jeanie Johnson famine ship. The boys learned all about the Famine in History this year and enjoyed the tour around the replica Famine ship. We heard lots of new and interesting facts about that period of Irish History.
We have been enjoying doing more active Maths lessons this term. We measured with trundle wheels, explored shape and space in the school grounds, and we created Maths challenges for each other.
We had a pizza party to celebrate achieving our Silver Award for good behaviour in and out of the class. The boys bought the ingredients and created tasty pizzas which we cooked on a pizza stone. We really enjoyed this treat!
We had so much fun on our end of year school tour to Airtastic. We played bowling, laser tag and indoor football. Our favourite day so far!
Four of our classmates joined the school football team to play in the SFAI final at the AUL. The boys played with huge pride and did us proud on the day. Well done, Ibrahim, Marco, Patrick and Daniel!
Christmas Update:
We have been busy both inside and outside of the classroom!
We travelled to Morton Stadium to run the ‘Final Mile’ of our marathon challenge. We joined lots of other 5th and 6th Classes who ran a lap of the stadium and received their medal at the finish line. A proud moment indeed.
We enjoyed taking part in the Science Week activities that went on in the school this year. We carried out lots of fun and messy experiments and we created group constructions using boxes and other materials. We also really enjoyed the workshop with the Lego Create teacher.
It’s getting close to the Christmas holidays and we feel we definitely deserve a few weeks off! We are currently rehearsing for our School Concert and we have created lots of festive artwork too. We are looking forward to finishing the year off with a visit to the Odeon Cinema to watch Elf.
Merry Christmas everyone from Ms. Fagan’s 5th Class!
Halloween Update:
5th Class are very busy this term.
We were very proud to be the first class in the school to achieve the Bronze Award. Mr. Sullivan presented it to us at our first school assembly and we celebrated by cooking S’mores together in class. A tasty treat for a job well done!

We are in training to complete our first full-length Marathon with David Gillick and Marathon Kids Ireland. We are running laps of the Astro each day and we are each on course to complete our 25.2 mile target. We will then join David and lots of other Irish pupils at Morton Stadium in Santry, where we will run our Final Mile together. Wish us luck!!!
We organised a trip to our local Library this month and walked there on a lovely sunny Thursday morning. We met librarian Jennifer, who showed us how the library works and how we can borrow not just regular books, but video games and audio books too.
