Christmas Update:
It has been an exciting couple of months in Junior Infants. After Halloween break, we started learning our sounds. We have been spending some time reading and spelling words with the sounds. We use our word work boards most days in school to make little words and we really enjoy practising our letters on whiteboards.
In Math’s time we covered the topics number, data & 3D shapes. We can show the number 5 in lots of different ways. We love getting to make things during playtime at the junk art station. We get really creative making characters from stories we’ve read, animals, monsters and many more!
The lead up to Christmas has been a really exciting time in our classroom. We decorated gingerbread cookies, made some Christmas art and practised our songs for the show. Our favourite day of all however, was our visit from Santa Clause! It was a really special day!
Halloween Update:
Junior Infants have had a busy September settling into life in school. The boys have been doing lots of work on their fine motor skills to strengthen their fingers. They enjoy threading, making pictures with shapes, using stickers to make patterns and tracing with markers. They have been learning about 2D shapes in Maths and they made squares, triangles and rectangles with their pegs!
Junior Infants have been doing lots of fun activities during Maths time such as matching, sorting, making sets and making patterns.
We love playtime in Junior Infants. It is a fun way of learning important skills like sharing and taking turns as well as using our creativity and problem-solving skills!
The boys love raking up the leaves and harvesting crops to sell in our Farm Shop.
